ALove's Easter Message

"And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. And Isaac said to his father Abraham, 'My father!' And he said, 'Here I am, my son.' He said, 'Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?' Abraham said, 'God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.' So they went both of them together."
-Genesis 22:6-8 (ESV)

"The next day he [John the Baptist] saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'"
-John 1:29 (ESV)

This Easter, here are a couple of things to remember, and one thing to put your your Easter celebration To-Do list...
Remember Two Things

1.  First, "It is finished." -John 19:30 (ESV).  There is nothing more for you to do.  Jesus has done everything required to take care of your sin and reconcile you to God.  God provided for himself the perfect Lamb, Jesus.

2.  Second, which follows from the first, the gospel is good NEWS, not good advice (paraphrasing Pastor Tim Keller here).  We don't DO news.  Instead, we hear it, believe it, and proclaim it:
"Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.  Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.
 -1 Corinthians 15:1-8 (NLT).

Do One Thing:

So, what's the ONE thing to do today?

"Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

Happy Easter Everyone!!
